Hundreds if not thousands of scientific studies have been documented on the many wonderful attributes of the Neem Tree. (Please see our article in our News section entitled “ Neem”). Neem Oil is non-toxic to humans and animals. One of the many beneficial properties of Neem is its use as a natural parasite/insect control and repellent. Neem is made up of many complex active ingredients. Among the many active ingredients, Forty (40) different compounds show effectiveness as a parasitic/insecticide. The manner in which it works is very different from common commercial insecticides/pesticides that instantly kill with toxic poisons. Neem oil has ingredients that are similar to the hormones that insects produce. These hormones like ingredients enter the insects system blocking and disrupting their natural normal hormones. This disruption causes the insects to not eat, mate and usually stop laying eggs. In rare cases when eggs are produced they don't hatch and in case of larvae, don't molt. Thus breaking the reproduction cycle and resulting in complete extermination usually within a 15 to 30 day period. Citronella Oil is a grassy plant that has a strong and distinct lemony scent. Citronella is non-toxic to humans and animals. The mechanism or repellent for Citronella has to do with its unique scent. It affects the insects olfactory system making it difficult if not impossible for it to locate the host's scent. (Mosquitoes home in on humans because of the scent of carbon dioxide and lactic acid our skin produces). Lemon Grass actually contains citronella. It therefore works in the same way as Citronella. We also like the fresh lemony fresh scent it adds to the product. Tea Tree Oil kills fungi, including molds and mildew. It has a broad-spectrum antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal activity. It kills all three categories of infectious organisms. Tea Tree Oils anti-inflammatory and anesthetic properties reduce swelling and soothe pain, while its antibacterial action prevents infections and reduces scarring. Use it topically for all skin ailments, cuts, burns, acne, cold sores, boils, warts, ringworm, skin rashes, herpes, corns, lice, insect bites, and fungal infections. Tea Tree Oil is considered the strongest natural antiseptic, 4 to 5 times stronger than usual household disinfectants. It kills gram negative and gram-positive bacteria, even stubborn germs like Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherischia coli. Unlike some synthetic antiseptics, it works without damaging healthy cells. Lavender has antiviral and anti-fungal properties. Lavender treats skin infections and reduces inflammation. It speeds the healing of skin cells. In aromatherapy studies researchers tested lavender and found it most effective at relaxing brain waves and reducing stress.
